Cayenne - Cayenne - (1975)

Cayenne was a band from San Francisco, California. So not really a Southern Rock band. But it might still interest some lovers of up tempo Country Rock. A very rare album released on a small independent label (Bucksnort Records) and basically a collection of demos they cut from 1972 to 1975 (Rip sent to me by Luc. Thanks!). Some more than adequate playing, if not spectacular. Very nice listen, though. It reminded me somewhat of Poco, but I'm no expert on that kind of music. Maker your move..

Wow, this is a great album. Very good country rock in the style of Poco or early Eagles with great harmony vocals. Wonder why they never made it...thanks for the post, Marc, Amsterdam

I have this album in my collection and think of these fine harmonies so often. Wish they were still around ..

I have this album. Terrific harmonies by these fine country rock musicians. Wish we could hear more from them.

Hi - I'm John Dupree, the Bass Player with CAYENNE. Thanks for your encouraging words. FYI - John Salz has been putting out some great CD's the last few years. "Oh Big Brother" is the latest.

Hello, my name is Albert Schildknecht and I played piano on a couple of your tracks you recorded in Buena Park, California in a studio owned by Gary Dalton and Kent Dubarri. There was a total of 6 tracks and I always wondered if they made it to vinyl or CD. I have an off the board mix and listen to them quite often and wonder what happened to you guys. The tracks are:
It’s all I can Do
So I’ll Get Back To You
King of the Mountain
Down the Road
Cream of Kentucky
Talk to Me

Hi Albert, I'm the BASS player John Dupree. I loved those tracks too. Gary Potterton was the final piece of the puzzle of our dream band and those songs embodied what we were always wanting CAYENNE to be. Those songs never made it to vinyl or CD, another band recorded Ajay's song "On Down the Road" which later made it on the charts. Glad you were part of this experience.

Saw this band in Davis in August 1974. They played a club called Ms Em's where I worked the falafel place on the front entrance. Became an instant fan and saw them a few more times including Fisherman's Wharf in SF. They combined the best parts of the early Eagles and Poco. I still have that album somewhere. Good memories of seeing the band.
