Raging Slab - Pronounced Eat Shit (2002)

Some good, heavy stuff for you, this time. You need another dose of Raging Slab. 'Pronounced Eat Shit'(pronounced ēat-shït) was the Slab's latest studio release. I'm just hoping it's not their final. But I wouldn't know, since they haven't updated their homepage in ages, and this album was released twelve years ago(!). If you don't know Raging Slab, you should definitely check them out. They were a different breed, but a welcome one. Initially marketed as a cross between Metallica and Lynyrd Skynyrd, these guys play a splendid variation on Southern Rock that'll put a smirk on your face. Whatever happened to Greg Strzempka? Boogalooser!

Raging Slab - Dynamite Monster Boogie Concert (1993)

I reckon "Dynamite Monster Boogie Concert" is among the very best of Raging Slab releases (along with their self titled album for RCA). It's a shame so few people out there really know this band. They were plugged, at the time of the RCA release, as a cross between Lynyrd Skynyrd and Metallica. Well, I guess. To me there's nothing quite like the Slab. They're raging. This album actually has quite some ZZ Top in it as well. And this one features some of their best songs. Just give this one at least five spins, and, believe you me, it will have you hooked. Singer/guitarist Gregory Strzempka has one of the finest classic rock voices ever. Easily. And some tasty slide guitar by Elyse Steinman (his now-wife?). Their last album dates from 2002 and their website has been in the middle of being updated for some years now. Come back Raging Slab, move that thang!

Raging Slab - Black Belt In Boogie (1995)

I previously posted 'From A Southern Space' and 'Freeburden'. 'Black Belt In Boogie' is the last unreleased album of Raging Slab.
What can I say about Raging Slab that hasn't been said already? They're one of the best kept secrets of Southern Rock. They're raunchy, they rock hard and they sure do boogie! Some of these songs wound up, re-recorded, on the 'Sing Monkey Sing' album. This album is a lot better, though...
If you need a sample of what the band is like, check out the video below.

Like what you see? Then get the album...

Raging Slab - Freeburden (1992)

Back by popular demand: Raging Slab. Yet another studio recording their label did not wish to release. God knows why, I don't. I love it. This was their second attempt at following up the 1989 RCA release (the first attempt was From A Southern Space).
Some songs wound up, re-recorded, on Dynamite Monster Boogie Concert. This also has Slab's version of We're An American Band (a hit for Grand Funk Railroad, way way back...). Boogie baby!

Raging Slab - L.A. Live (1990)

This is a groovy soundboard of Raging Slab supporting their self-entitled classic for RCA Records. I don't know the origins of this recording. But it sure sounds fine to my ears. And they just released one of their, in my opinion, best records. So a nice setlist as well. Workin' For RCA!

Raging Slab - From A Southern Space (1991)

I love Raging Slab. They're a wild bunch and they make me wanna get up and boogie! This album, From A Southern Space, was not released in 1991. It was meant to follow up their first major label release (entitled "Raging Slab", RCA 1989) but was rejected by the label. Luckily the recordings are 'around', so you get a chance to enjoy this just the same.
If you love the 1989 album and "Dynamite Monster Boogie Concert", you won't mind owning this. The Slab sounding like they should be sounding: hot 'n' nasty! Get it while it's hot!
